Pluscarden Abbey was founded in 1230 by King Alexander II of Scotland. A community of Catholic Benedictine monks live in the only medieval British monastery still being used for its original purpose.

The Mass and full Divine Office are sung by the Monks each day in the Abbey Church, using Gregorian chant.

The Miltonduff Distillery is situated on the site of the Abbey's meal mill and one of the original stones from the Abbey is still proudly on display.

Day Tour 2: Pluscarden Abbey and Miltonduff Distillery - Pick Up 10am - 3pm  (5 Hours)

Pick-up at 10am from your desired pick-up point in Elgin, Moray. You will spend the morning visiting the Abbey and listening to the Catholic Benedictine Monks chanting The Mass and Full Divine Office in Gregorian chant in the Abbey Church. The Catholic Benedictine Monks live here in the only Medieval British Monastery still being used for its original purpose. Pluscarden Abbey is situated in north-east Scotland, six miles south-west of Elgin in Moray, the monastery enjoys the peace and stillness of a secluded glen. Enjoy the atmosphere of quiet reflection, the serenity of the Abbey as it was in the thirteenth century, when a community of monks first came to this part of Moray.
